Jimmy Greene writes a letter to himself

Ana Marquez-Greene

I just came across a piece of video that I thought needed to be shared. It marks the one year anniversary of the school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, in which the jazz musician and educator Jimmy Greene lost his daughter, Ana.

I came to know Jimmy during his three year stint with the jazz studies department at the University of Manitoba. A good and gentle soul, he’s also a great sax player whose sound can be both incredibly touching and strikingly fierce. He was also very supportive of me during the research phase for my book, and graciously sat the very first interview I conducted. You can hear excerpts from that interview by clicking here.
